In Guyana, residential and home-based care for seniors and vulnerable adults relies on patient-care staff able to respond to a medical emergency. Care assistants in these settings are commonly required to hold emergency-response and CPR/first-aid training so that help is immediate before ambulance services arrive.

急救要求
Care staff are expected to be able to act in an emergency: the government Patient Care Assistant Training Programme embeds emergency response, and employers also accept a standalone recognized CPR/first-aid certificate for staff working with adults. The exact expectation is set by the programme and the employer rather than by a single residential-care statute.
A recognized, up-to-date first-aid certificate is the way to meet this expectation; it is in addition to the worker's occupational training and must be renewed periodically.
