Foster care in Guyana is managed by the Childcare and Protection Agency (CPA) within the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security under the Childcare and Development Services Act 2011, with applicants assessed, background-checked and prepared before a placement. A recognized, current first-aid and CPR certificate is commonly expected as part of caregiver readiness and, where required, is recognized by the CPA.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Guyana, whether for personal knowledge, childcare licensing, or employer requirements, since the Act does not prescribe a delivery mode.
